New Gear
I have a quick little update for you guys. I just got myself a new model painting stand.
For a while now I was toying with the idea of buying a painting stand to make my life a little easier. So I looked around online on modeling stores around me that carried stuff like this.
I did find some, but they were a tad expensive. Then I remembered I had friends with 3D printers so started digging around to see if I can find any .stl files. And voila. This is the result. And it came out pretty damned good.
As you can probably tell, this thing is quite massive. That's good, because I will want to use it both for smaller model, but also for some pretty large ones in the future.
So if you have a 3D printer, or know someone who has. You can get one of these for yourself for far cheaper than a ready made one.
Normally, these things also tend to have scales along the rails for more accurate adjustment. But I decided I didn't need them, so I had them removed. And besides, If I ever decide I do actually need them. I can always grab a ruler and draw scales on myself.
These things are pretty neat. Not only can you adjust the spacing of the arms. You can also adjust the height independently. That's quite useful when you need to hold your models at a particular angle for painting or to apply decals.
I also made some progress this weekend on the Spitfire, I just forgot to post an update. Oops. I guess my brain was too fried from my writing marathon to finish the main article 😂.
I really wish I could have worked a bit more on the model. But it is what it is. Hopefully, I'll have a bit more time at the bench this weekend.
Anyway, that is all for now. Have a wonderful day, and happy modeling, everyone. Cheers!
